In recent years, drones have become essential tools for multiple sectors, from photography to logistics and agriculture. To ensure safe and regulated use, regulation establishes specific certifications for drone pilots. One of the most advanced is the certificate of theoretical knowledge to operate in the specific category under standard scenarios (STS). In this article we tell you how to register for the exam, where to take the Drone Pilot Exam and what steps you need to follow.
Before registering, you must meet certain basic requirements:
Each EASA Member State manages the training and obtaining of the theoretical and practical UAS pilot certificates. Below is the list provided by EASA with links to the different Authorities, in which it explains the procedure for obtaining the certificates.

It is important to note that in many Member States, attendance in person is required, in addition to the payment of fees, either at accredited schools or at the headquarters of the competent authority, in order to take the theoretical examinations.
In the case of Spain, the theory test can be taken online, free of charge, and is open to anyone, regardless of nationality. In this article, we explain how you can register for the exam.
After passing the theoretical examination, you must undertake the practical training and examination. This must be done at a Competent Authority Recognised Entity, which will consist of subjects such as pre-flight measures, in-flight procedures and post-flight actions.
In our STS Drone Pilot Course, we not only prepare you with a complete practical training and final examination, but we also provide you with all the necessary study material and support tools to successfully pass the theoretical examination. Everything you need to get certified is here!
