A PDRA authorisation is the fastest route into the Specific category when your operation does not fit a standard scenario but follows one of the pre-defined risk assessments published by EASA.

WHY DO I NEED A PDRA?
Types of Pre-Defined Risk Assessments (PDRA)
If your operation does not meet the published STS requirements, you’ll probably have to do a PDRA. You will be able to fly under ConOps such:

WHO IS IT FOR?
When a PDRA is the right route
Your drone has no C5 or C6 label
The standard scenarios are closed to you, but your operation is routine enough to fit a pre-defined assessment.
BVLOS in sparsely populated areas
Surveillance, agriculture or linear inspections beyond visual line of sight, within the limits a PDRA sets.
Approval faster than a full SORA
Most of the risk assessment is already done by EASA, so the application is lighter and quicker to review.

FAQ
PDRA authorisation: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a PDRA and a SORA?
A PDRA is a risk assessment EASA has already done for a common type of operation. If yours fits one, the application is shorter. If it does not, you need a full SORA.
Which PDRA do I need?
It depends on whether you fly VLOS or BVLOS, the distance from the pilot, the population below and the airspace. We confirm the right PDRA before you commit.
How long does PDRA approval take?
We submit your application within about 15 days of receiving your information. Review times after that depend on each aviation authority.
Does my drone need a class label?
Not for most PDRAs. Your drone must meet the technical conditions set in the PDRA, which we document in the technical characterisation.
How much does a PDRA cost?
€1,950 + VAT, with every document listed above included.
