Project Completed: iDrone – Our Remote Drone Operations Platform Is Now a Reality

We’re proud to announce the successful completion of our NEOTEC 2023/2024 project, supported by CDTI, which has led to the creation of iDrone – a cutting-edge platform for remote drone testing, training, and simulation.

Thanks to this initiative, EU Drone Port is now one of the first European centers capable of offering fully remote services for drone operators, manufacturers, public agencies, and training institutions. All from anywhere in the world, without needing to physically travel to a test field.

What have we achieved?

With the support of CDTI’s NEOTEC programme, we have:

Developed and validated iDrone, a platform that allows real-time remote control and monitoring of drone operations.
Integrated live video streaming, interactive dashboards, flight telemetry, and mission planning into a single system.
Built immersive simulation environments to train operators in urban, industrial and emergency scenarios.
Created a secure, scalable infrastructure based on 5G networks, VPN encryption, and Docker containers.
Deployed the solution in our facility at La Cerdanya Airfield, where we’ve already conducted live pilot tests with users.

Why does it matter?

Until now, drone testing and training required on-site presence, travel, and costly logistics. With iDrone, any user can remotely access a professional test and training environment, saving time, money, and reducing emissions.

This platform answers a growing demand for digitalisation and automation in the drone industry – from certified operators to public authorities and research institutions.
