STS-01 Standard Scenario

This standard scenario will allow the use of C5 drones to fly in urban areas. It is, undoubtedly, the scenario that will be used to carry out professional work in the many different sectors.


These are the main requirements to be followed:

Operational Limits


  • Operations shall be conducted in VLOS.
  • Max. speed < 5 m/s
  • The UAS shall not carry dangerous goods

Vertical limit


  • Max. height of 120m AGL
  • If the aircraft flies within 50 meters from an artificial obstacle higher than 105 meters, it may increase the height by an additional 15 meters provided it has the authorization of the entity responsible for the obstacle.

Horizontal limits


A Terrestrial Zone must be defined consisting of:

  • Flight Geography Zone
  • Contingency Zone, with outer limits located at least 10 meters from the Flight Geography.
  • Safety buffer for ground hazards.

The maximum distance of the safety buffer must be extended according to the flight height and the MTOM of the aircraft, as indicated in the following table:

It is critical to consider that the people present in the controlled area must:

  • Be informed of the risks of the operation
  • Be informed or trained on the security measures adopted by the UAS operator.
  • They must have agreed to participate in the operation.

Pilot skills


  • Count with the certificate of theoretical competencies for operations in standard scenarios.
  • Count with the certificate of practical skills for the STS-01 scenario.

Aircraft

  • Use of an C5 aircraft according to Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945.
