Celebrating 1 year as a Drone Certification Body

1. The Story — From “Impossible” to Accredited

Four years ago, when we told friends and partners we were going to apply for an EU Notified Body (NB) for drones, the reaction was polite disbelief:
“That’s Champions-League territory. All the other NBs are huge corporations — how will a startup break in?”

We had a different view. We knew we had everything necessary to become one, and we didn’t see any reason why we could fail.

  • Infrastructure? Already building a dedicated drone-test lab.

  • Equipment? Investing every euro we earned back into equipment, and calibrations.

  • Team? Engineers who live and breathe UAS.

  • Network? Years accumulating contacts with manufacturers and regulators.

So we pressed “Go.” It meant every weekend in the lab, and obsessing over Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945 — the rulebook for Class-Label drones. In 2024 we passed the final audit, joined the top-five NB list!

And in our first year we filled the test calendar through November 2025. That’s worth every single sleepless hour!

2. What We Do Now

We perform the full conformity-assessment pathway required by EU 2019/945 for Class Labels C0 → C6:

  1. Document pre-analysis — design dossiers

  2. Laboratory testing — mass, speed, impact energy, geo-awareness, direct Remote-ID, sound power, FTS, … everything the Annexes demand.

  3. EU-Type Examination Certificate — the passport that lets operators fly in A1, A2, A3, STS-01 & STS-02 plug & play.

3. Why Manufacturers Choose Us

💶 Cost-effectiveThe fact of being a startup, allows us to offer significantly lower prices than the other 4 big corporations
🚀 Drone-only focusEvery engineer, supervisor, evaluator, quality manager… is UAS-specific — we speak your language.

4. Looking Ahead

We are willing to grow our Certification Department even more. This means:

  • More capacity — more test engineers, weekend and evening shifts

  • More Regulation watch — participating in even more Working Groups so clients can be evaluated with the newest verification methods and pass criteria possible.
