Drone pilot training: frequently asked questions
Do I need a drone pilot certificate for a small drone?
Yes, if it has a camera. Only a toy drone with no camera can be flown without one, even in the C0 class.
Does the course include the official exam?
No. Our courses prepare you for the official exam, which you take with your national aviation authority. We give you the link to every country’s exam.
Can I take the exam in another country?
Yes. If your own country’s exam is difficult to access, you can take it in Spain with AESA whatever your nationality.
What is the difference between the A1/A3 and A2 certificates?
A1/A3 is the base certificate for the Open category. A2 builds on it and lets you fly C2 drones closer to people.
Where is my certificate valid?
In 31 countries: the 27 EU member states plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
