Which class certification does your drone need?

The class identification label decides where your customers can fly and which pilot certificate they need. Choose it from two directions: the physical limits of the drone, and the operations your market wants to fly. EU Drone Port is an official Notified Body (Drone Certification Lab) for classes C0 to C6.

Match your drone to its class

Each class sets limits on mass, design and features, and unlocks a different subcategory or scenario for your customers.

Classes defined in Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945, as amended.

Start from the market

Who buys your drone and what do they need to fly? Consumer, professional open category or specific category work point to different classes.

Then check the physics

Mass, dimensions, speed and automation must fit the class limits with margin, including every payload configuration you sell.

Features each class requires

Remote ID, geo-awareness, low-speed modes, lights and lost-link behaviour depend on the class. Plan them into the design early.

One model, several classes?

Some manufacturers certify variants for different classes. Each variant needs its own conformity assessment.

Changing class late is expensive

If tests show the drone does not fit the chosen class, redesign and retesting add months. Confirm the class before the design freeze.
