WHAT IS IT?
Your drone class certification, from C0 to C6
Every drone model sold in Europe under a class from C0 to C6 needs a class identification label, and that label starts with an EU-type examination by a Notified Body.
EU Drone Port is an official Notified Body (Drone Certification Lab, NB 3045) and the only EU Certification Body 100% dedicated to drones. We test your model against Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945 and issue the EU-type examination certificate that opens the European market.
WHY DO I NEED A CLASS IDENTIFICATION LABEL?
UAS Class Identification Label
If you are a UAS manufacturer willing to commercialise Drones in the European Union, you will need a Class Identification Label.
The requirements for this label will vary depending on the selected class.

WHO IS IT FOR?
When you need a class certification
Launching a new model
Your drone needs its class label before it is placed on the EU market, for the Open category or the standard scenarios.
Every class, from C0 to C6
We certify all classes: C0 to C4 for the Open category, and C5 and C6 for the standard scenarios, so your customers know exactly where they can fly.
Changing a certified model
New hardware, software or variants that affect compliance need the certificate reviewed and updated.
Adding a kit or Remote ID
Accessory kits that convert a C3 drone into C5, and Direct Remote ID add-ons, are certified too.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Drone class certification: frequently asked questions
Below you’ll find the most frequently asked questions we receive as a Notified Body regarding drone class certification, regulatory compliance, and the benefits of obtaining a CX label.
Any world manufacturer, distributor, or importer placing a drone on the EU market.
By obtaining this certification, you ensure that your drones comply with Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/945 and are ready to be operated legally within the EU.
This also adds clear commercial value to your product. Certified drones can be flown immediately by your customers under the applicable EASA scenarios, making your product more attractive and easier to integrate into professional operations.
A successful certification allows you to affix the corresponding class identification label (e.g., C0, C1, C2, etc., C6) to your drone, packaging, and user manual. This label confirms full compliance with the technical and safety requirements defined by EU law.
For your clients, this means the drone is ready to operate immediately within specific EASA flight scenarios — without additional approvals. Offering certified drones helps streamline adoption, builds trust, and gives you a competitive edge in a compliance-driven market.
About 40 days from the moment we receive your complete documentation, including testing and the certification decision.
Prices start from €12,900 + VAT. The final price depends on the class, the number of variants, and options such as kits or Direct Remote ID. For an exact quote, just contact our team.
Your user manual, datasheet, maintenance manual and technical file, plus one or two production-representative units for testing, depending on the class.
The EU-Type Examination Certificate remains valid for 10 years, as long as the drone’s hardware and software remain unchanged, and the applicable regulations are not modified in a way that affects compliance. If changes occur, the certification must be reviewed and updated accordingly.
This provides long-term stability for your product in the European market. A certified drone is not only compliant at launch — it’s a lasting investment in regulatory confidence and operational readiness for your clients.
A drone is considered “legacy” if it was placed on the EU market before 1 January 2024 and does not carry a class identification label (C0 to C6). These drones may continue operating under transitional rules, but they come with a major restriction: they cannot be updated, neither in hardware nor software.
Any modification — even a firmware update — may be considered a significant change, requiring a new evaluation and certification. In practice, legacy drones are frozen in their original state, limiting functionality, support, and future market value.
Certifying your drone now ensures it can evolve with your product roadmap and remain legally operational in the years to come.
The certificate is only issued when every test is passed. We explain the non-conformity so your team can fix it and retest.
No. C5 and C6 are the classes required for the standard scenarios STS-01 and STS-02 in the Specific category.
