Free project roadmap
Your LUC project roadmap: phases, documents and cost
A LUC project is mostly organisational work. With EU Drone Port, the documentation is ready to submit around day 60. The review time after that depends on your authority.
The roadmap
Six phases from assessment to certificate
Your side of the timeline depends on how much of the safety management system already runs.
1. Assessment
Review your operations, authorisations, organisation and target privileges. Decide whether a LUC is the right move now.
2. Gap analysis
Compare what you have with Part C: organisation, SMS, procedures, records and evidence.
3. Design and documents
Set up the SMS and write the file: Safety Management Manual, LUC manual, operations manual, privileges document and technical characterisation.
4. Implementation
Run the new processes, train staff and produce the first records the auditors will ask for.
5. Submission
Final consistency check and submission to the competent authority, around day 60.
6. Authority review
Questions, audit and corrections until the LUC is issued. The duration depends on the authority.
What no one controls
The authority’s review time varies by country and workload. What you control is a complete, consistent file and an SMS that already runs.
