3 questions. No explanations. Just right or wrong.
This is exactly how the full diagnostic works. You answer, you see your result, you move on. No hints, no walkthroughs: that is what the course is for.

25 questions. 6 topics. Find every gap.
These 3 questions covered one topic each. The full diagnostic runs 25 questions across all 6 exam areas: air law, airspace, drone classes, meteorology, technical knowledge, and safety. No explanations, just a clear picture of where to focus your study time.
What the diagnostic covers
6 topics, 25 questions
Each topic maps to the subjects of the official open category exams. Four to five questions per topic: enough to reveal gaps, not enough to learn from. That is by design.
| Official exam | Questions | Pass mark | Before the exam |
|---|---|---|---|
| A1/A3 | 40 multiple choice | 75% | Online training |
| A2 | 30 multiple choice | 75% | A1/A3 certificate and practical self-training |

Air law and EU regulations
Regulation (EU) 2019/947, open and specific category definitions, operator registration and the role of national authorities.
Airspace and restrictions
Airspace structure, geographical zones, prohibited and restricted areas, U-space, height limits and how to check a location before flying.
Drone classes and registration
Classes C0 to C4, class identification labels, weight categories, operator registration and Remote ID.
Meteorology
Wind, visibility, turbulence, temperature and icing effects, and how to read weather information for drone flights.
Technical knowledge and performance
Aerodynamics, battery limits, GNSS, obstacle avoidance, emergency procedures and, for A2, low-speed mode and ground risk.
Safety, privacy and insurance
Data protection, third-party liability insurance, operational risk and human performance.
Why no explanations?
The diagnostic has one job: to show you where your gaps are. If you score 2 out of 4 on meteorology and 5 out of 5 on air law, you know where to spend your study time. Explanations, lessons and the timed mock exam are inside the EU Drone Port courses.

FAQ
Questions about the diagnostic and the exam
How is a diagnostic different from a practice exam?
A diagnostic shows you where your knowledge gaps are before you start studying: 25 questions across 6 topics, right or wrong, no explanations. A full timed mock exam with explanations is included in the EU Drone Port courses.
Why does the diagnostic not include explanations?
Because its job is to reveal gaps, not to teach. With full explanations you would be reading a study guide, not taking a diagnostic. The value is an honest picture of where you stand before you open a textbook.
Can I pass the exam just by studying these questions?
No, and that is intentional. With four to five questions per topic, the diagnostic exposes gaps but cannot prepare you. The official exam draws from a much larger question bank, which our courses cover in full.
How many questions are in the A1/A3 exam?
40 multiple-choice questions, and you need 75% to pass. You take it with your national aviation authority, or an entity it designates, after completing the online training.
How many questions are in the A2 exam?
30 multiple-choice questions with a 75% pass mark. You need the A1/A3 certificate first and must declare that you have completed practical self-training.
Where do I take the official exams?
With your national aviation authority or an entity it designates: AESA in Spain, the LBA in Germany, the DGAC in France, and so on. Our courses prepare you for the content and format.
Are the pilot certificates valid in all EU countries?
Yes. They are recognised in all 31 EASA countries: every EU member state plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
