Common non-conformities in UAS class certification
Most delays in class certification come from a short list of recurring findings. Each one means a fix, a retest and a new review. Check your drone and your technical file against this list before you send them for testing.

Recurring findings
What we see most often
Grouped by where they appear: the product, the tests and the documentation.
Remote ID
Missing or wrong data fields, wrong broadcast format or rate, and serial numbers that do not follow the required format.
Geo-awareness
Zone data that cannot be loaded or updated, missing warnings to the pilot, or behaviour that does not match the user manual.
Noise
Sound power above the class limit, or test configurations that do not match the product as sold.
Mass and configuration
Declared MTOM that excludes a payload or battery sold with the drone, pushing it over the class limit.
Labels and markings
Class label missing, too small or placed where it can be removed, and CE marking inconsistent with the declaration.
Technical file and manual
Gaps between the technical documentation, the test reports and the user manual, or missing EASA consumer information.
Fix it in design, not in testing
A finding during testing costs a redesign, a new sample and another test slot. A pre-assessment of the design is far cheaper.

FAQ
Questions about certification findings
What is a non-conformity in UAS certification?
A finding that the drone, its tests or its documentation do not meet a requirement of its class. It must be corrected before the certificate is issued.
What are the most common non-conformities?
Remote ID and geo-awareness issues, noise above the limit, mass that exceeds the class with some configurations, label errors and inconsistent documentation.
How long does it take to close a non-conformity?
It depends on the fix. A documentation correction can be quick. A hardware change needs a new sample and new tests.
Can I avoid findings before testing?
Yes. A design review against the class requirements and a complete technical file before testing prevent most findings.
Do firmware updates affect certification?
They can. An update that changes class-relevant behaviour must be assessed before release.
Can EU Drone Port review my drone before testing?
Yes. EU Drone Port is an official Notified Body (Drone Certification Lab) for classes C0 to C6. Request a quote to discuss your project.
